Pre-kindergarten program
School readiness starts here
Lightbridge Academy gives your child the skills they need to perform better in elementary school. Our theme-based, hands-on activities are designed to create everyday learning moments that get your child ready to enter kindergarten with confidence.
Our pre-kindergarten program
Lightbridge Academy’s innovative Seedlings® early learning curriculum is designed to strengthen your child’s emerging skills in reading, writing, science, technology, and math. Our teachers focus on what a child should learn in Pre-K by preparing them for the structured environment of a kindergarten classroom. Your little one will learn how to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and work together with their peers. Enrichment programs such as Spanish Sprouts, Singing Sprouts, Signing Sprouts, yoga, and Learning Without Tears® expand on key building blocks that support our multi-sensory approach.
Our Pre-K curriculum for 4- and 5-year olds includes:
*The ages of children in our programs varies based on local and state regulations as well as the unique needs of each child.
Creative Arts and Music
Together, we explore tempos and rhythms, sing in groups, learn about a variety of instruments, and create beautiful artwork while working to increase hand-eye coordination.
Physical and Well-Being
Learning healthy lifestyle habits begins early. Large motor activities along with small muscle strength build fine-motor skills and healthy bodies. Children this age are developing large motor skills for sports and dance, and fine motor skills for writing and playing instruments.
Language and Literacy
Pre-K is a critical time for the development of language, early literacy, and a love of reading. Along with fostering verbal communication, reading and writing skills continue to expand through creative journaling and a classroom filled with labeled items, expanding their vocabulary and sight word knowledge.
Mathematics and Science
Interactive learning enables ocean exploration through underwater webcams, and STREAM activities create a rich environment of discovery. Children will also learn numbers, measurements, and patterns through hands-on learning.
Social and Emotional
Children build the self-esteem and self-regulation skills necessary to succeed in elementary school. Choosing playtime partners, forming friendships, and learning how to take care of personal needs helps build independence and confidence.
Cognitive
The development of reasoning skills allows Pre-K children to create innovative solutions and persist in solving difficult problems. It’s all about the individual as we learn through a variety of themes and styles, so every child can progress naturally and without frustration.
“Lightbridge Academy has taken such wonderful care of my two children over the last few years. It was integral in preparing my son to enter kindergarten this year, where he thrived!”
A proven approach to Pre-K curriculum
Lightbridge Academy students tested 95% proficient in kindergarten-readiness according to the 2023-24 Vine Assessment of 4- and 5-year-old pre-kindergarteners across key learning domains.
The Vine Assessment System is a developmentally appropriate early childhood assessment that aligns with the Common Core Standards in all 50 states. It is peer-reviewed by members of Columbia University and the University of California, Berkeley. The approach is both observational and formative, allowing Lightbridge Academy teachers to actively observe and assess children over the course of an entire school year in the areas of mathematics, science, literacy knowledge and skills, language and communication, social/emotional, motor and physical, creative and cultural arts, and an overall approach to learning. The assessment gave teachers the opportunity to create individualized lessons for students to help them gain the skills needed to become lifelong learners.
Classroom technology
Our Pre-K curriculum uses technology to meet the needs of all types of learners. Lightbridge Academy teachers use interactive whiteboards and tech tables to bring lessons to life. Whether it’s going on virtual nature walks or interacting with a favorite story, these tools capture the attention of students and keep them engaged and participating.
